I’m going to be relatively brief with this update as I want to get to bed ahead of our matchup with the best team in the field, Canada. The game is tomorrow at 10 AM Israeli time (3 AM EST). I don’t know what my playing situation will be after getting the start today.

Today, we beat the EU 16-1. I played the first two periods without letting up a goal though the shots on net were limited. Still, it was great being out there contributing.

After our game, I grabbed a street felafel on Ben Yehuda Street and then headed over to Yad Vashem, Jerusalem’s Holocaust museum. It was a powerful exhibition with impressive architecture that added to the visual experience. No matter how many times I learn about the Holocaust, I always learn something new either through a personal vignette from a survivor or tying current events (in this case the Russian invasion of Ukraine) to history. The horrifying events of the Holocaust always leave me incredulous that this could happen to 6 million people before it could be stopped.
Tonight, several of my teammates went back to the hockey arena to watch a very strong USA men’s open team filled with some top college players defeat Canada in front of a good sized crowd including Americans, Canadians and many local Israelis.
Today encapsulated this trip for me so far – hockey, falafel, Jewish culture and history, and bookended by some more hockey (in the desert no less!).
